Natur Cymru is the quarterly magazine that flies the flag for the wildlife and nature or Wales. It has its own website but, due to technical and commercial difficulties (now resolved), it was unable to be updated. The magazine wanted to use the web, in conjunction with Facebook, eMail, PR and posters to publicise and promote a £500 prize nature writing competition.
Within a matter of days the dedicated competition website was up and running with the essential information and Natur Cymru branding. During the first two months of live operation the site generated an average of over 70 ‘unique visitors’ per day and has been linked to by many other sites including WWF Cymru (the sponsors) and the BBC Wales Nature site. The home page includes an effective YouTube video of Iolo Williams promoting the competition.
